In the 80s my friends and I (young teens 13-18) used to go on hitchhiking adventures. Don’t ask me what our parents were thinking. Maybe they didn’t know. Anyway, we had pretty great experiences hitching. I’m still friends with those guys and some of them now have kids that are in the age range that we were when we were hitching. When we look back on it and think about their kids doing it…. we can’t believe what we had done. And we muse at how different things are now and how parenting has changed.

Which is backstory for why I’ve decided to collect hitchhiking stories as a side-project. The first story that I have is from Jeff Davies, who picked up a hitchhiker and got more than he bargained for. Recorded over Skype so the audio is, well, Skyp-ish.  Here’s his story:
